Project Censored publishes a list of “censored” news stories each year. I agree that a few of these stories are important, and did not get enough media attention. So I’m linking them here.

Stories I found profound in that I hadn’t heard them were:

#2 Halliburton Charged with Selling Nuclear Technologies to Iran
I always knew they were dodgy, but so little is written about them.

#4 Hunger and Homelessness Increasing in the US
Nothing new here, but the US really should put more effort into sorting its domestic problems.

#11 Dangers of Genetically Modified Food Confirmed
This one was really interesting. There’s a big movement against GM food in Europe. Many of the papers I’ve read have shown GM food to be the answer to world hunger, and that Europe’s blindly negative view was hurting the solution to this problem. This is the first evidence I’ve seen that shows that Europe’s paranoia is healthy.

#13 New Evidence Establishes Dangers of Roundup
Similar to the GM story, but my mom always used Roundup to kill weeds when I was little. Mom, I never ate it so there shouldn’t be anything worry about :).

#14 Homeland Security Contracts KBR to Build Detention Centers in the US
Just adds to my paranoia that US citizens are no longer in control of their country.

#18 Physicist Challenges Official 9-11 Story
More fuel for the 911 conspiracy theorists. As an ex-mechanical engineer, this evidence is impossible to ignore.

If you have the time, give them a read. I think all of them are important in their own right. However, an observation about all these “censored” stories is that many of them highlight the neo-conservative agenda of acquiring wealth and power. Weather these stories are true or not, it’s hard to miss that the list was put together by the American left. Seems that a more balanced list would have gotten more diggs
