While this hasn’t happened yet in the US, Norway has highlighted an example of how customers can loose when ISPs don’t keep their networks neutral.

It seems like the issue has fallen to apathy (and mis-information) in the US. While I’ve been pro-neutrality in the past, it’s probably better that regulation is left for when the market can’t solve its own problems. There will be commercial casualties along the way, but it’s historically better to leave the market free and solve problems as they arrise. This example in Norway shows that regulation isn’t required, at least in the short term. The media highlighted the issue and bad publicity forced the ISP to change its ways. It’s not a permanent fix like net-neutrality supporters would like, but it will have to do for now.
