TED Talk: The value of slowness |
|
If you haven’t had a chance to see some of the TED talks, check them out. Some are quite profound. This one rang especially true to me. As you may have noticed, I haven’t posted in a month, and haven’t put up any of my India photos or stories as promised. My excuse is having no more than a few minutes of free time a week. The best solution to burning out completely is to say no to anything that isn’t important. This sounds obvious, but why is it that our lives get too full? If I look at a “free” day on the weekend, it actually consists of 6 1-2 hour errands which need to get done by Monday or they’re pushed to the next week. Then I have another 4 or 5 hours of fun time “scheduled” to go out with friends. This is a “free” Saturday, let alone a week day where I have 9 hours of work on top of it all! After a while life becomes a massive to do list. Has anyone else noticed this? Other than vacation, the last free time I had was being back at school. It’s a big pain in the ass. So let me know if you’ve found solutions. How much time to you find in your day where you can sit and relax without any annoying responsibility tugging at you? |

It’s all about how much you let yourself get sucked in. If you want time to yourself you can find it. I admit sometimes it’s not readily available, but if you look, you can find it. Hell, it’s even there in the middle of some chores….
