The US is bankrupt, which is old news. The real 2006 deficit has been announced to be 3.5 trillion. That’s just 2006 folks. John Williams, an econometrician (what a dorky title!), writes:

Indeed the unfolding fiscal nightmare likely will entail a U.S. hyperinflation and a resulting collapse in the value of the world’s primary reserve currency, the dollar. When this starts to unravel it will unravel fast. I don’t know whether it will be the dominant issue in the 2008 presidential election, but I believe it will be by 2012.

In more heart warming news, Richard “Hamster” Hammond has recovered and Top Gear will be back in January. Woo! He’s gone from the runt of the show to a super hero. It proves that short people can earn respect too, but it must involve crashing 300mph jet cars.
