Olympic Torch in London |
|
I took a break from work today to go watch the Olympic torch going through London. There were about 30-50 police and guards around the runner but protesters still managed to disrupt the progress all throughout the city. Since Trafalgar Square hosts protests all year, I headed there to see what I could. The tension in the air was intense. As the runner ran through, there were roars of anger followed by cheering followed by screams. No one was hurt. I felt for the Tibetan protesters, who were massively outnumbered by Chinese supporters. Two girls climbed the fountain and braved the freezing water to get more attention. One of them broke into tears. The crowd had their back to them at the time. |

I’ve put the Tibetan girls on the fountain on my computer as the opening screen. Superb pic.
